Perfume

Historically, perfume first was used by Egyptians during religious ceremonies. In folk medicine scent oils were also used as remedy for skin treatment. Later, women’s perfume had become a cosmetic. Legend says that Romans has been conquered by Cleopatra with her perfume.  The first perfume factory has been established in Greece. In 12th century France became as a leader in perfume production. It was a belief that scents of rosemary and lavender could fight some diseases. That’s why the base of today’s eau de cologne is oils from lavender, rosemary, and bergamot.

Perfume is a mixture of essential oils or chemical scents, fixatives and alcohol. Some perfumes have only one scent.  Perfume, when applied, reacts with person’s body scent and forms unique aroma for each person. The same cologne smells differently on each person's body. Therefore we need  to try it on our skin before baying. The cost of perfume starts from around $25 and may be up to hundreds of thousands dollar. For instance, a bottle of "Imperial Majesty" costs $215,000.
